Revolution Trains is delighted to announce that CAD designer Louis Spurgin is joining the company as Product Development Engineer – the fifth full-time member of the team

Louis graduated from Nottingham Trent University in 2021 and joins Revolution after spending three years at Hornby, where he was responsible for the design of several well-received models including the Princess Coronation steam locomotive in TT:120 and TTA tank wagon in both OO and TT:120, along with the upcoming TT:120 Class 31 and 37 locos.
Louis joins directors Mike Hale and Ben Ando, designer Mike Buick and customer services manager Simon Veasey; his role will be to help Revolution continue to deliver the high quality models we are known for while developing exciting new products.

“I am delighted and excited to join the guys from Revolution, having been impressed with their models and hearing good things about them. Being part of a much smaller team brings its challenges, but also the opportunity to take greater responsibility for individual projects, while refining my existing CAD design skills and playing a bigger role in product selection and research,” he said.
Revolution’s Ben Ando says: “Louis is young and full of ideas. We’ve been impressed with his 3D design skills, and he has considerable experience in TT:120 which is an area of the hobby we are exploring.”
Mike Hale added: “We have always been very cautious about growing too quickly, however we do have exciting plans for next year and had identified design capacity as an area to develop. The opportunity to recruit Louis has come at the right time for all of us.”
Outside work Louis is an avid triathlete and sailor and is dedicating many hours each week training for an IRONMAN triathlon in the summer of 2025.
Louis is already hard at work designing a completely new locomotive and wagon for Revolution, and he’ll be with us on our stand at Model Rail Scotland in Glasgow from February 21st-23rd 2025 if anyone wants to come and say hello.
