Rapido have sent through revised CADs showing all four vehicles that comprise the Class 321 unit.

The new CADs incorporate improvements to the windscreen area, front air dam and also feature interiors.

There are a few further refinmenents required.  Once the CADs are approved we will be ready to move to tooling.  At this time we would encourage anyone interested in this model who has not already pre-ordered to sign up.

PENDOLINO PROGRESS

Rapido are making more progress on the Class 390 Pendolino models which are now in production and still scheduled for delivery toward the end of the summer.

This image from a couple of weeks ago shows power cars awaiting their final black and white passes and then tampo printing and assembly.

PATRIOT DELIVERIES

Project Railway Honour class 66 pre-production sample

The Dapol model of Class 66 66418 “Patriot” which is raising money for ABF the Soldiers’ charity through Project Railway Honour has proved remarkably popular.  As well as providing web hosting and an ordering interface, Revolution Trains stepped in to send out these models when Gareth, the man behind the project, was deployed overseas.

Unfortunaely, the recent arrival of the Class 92 sample and Class 321 CAD drawings, along with our attendance at the DEMU Showcase last weekend, has meant that there have been delays in sending out orders lodged in the last few weeks.

These will be sent out as soon as possible and we would ask supporters of Project Railway Honour to bear with us.

Class 92 payment installments & Project Railway Honour 66s

Those of you who paid a deposit for our Class 92 models will start to receive an invoice for the second installments – NOT EVERYONE WILL RECEIVE THEIR INVOICE AT THE SAME TIME, so please do not worry if you have not received your invoice yet!  The second and third installments are timed to coincide with tooling and production but are triggered a number of months after you paid your original deposit (we will let the website process invoices automatically for a period and then manually trigger any more recent orders). This is completely irrelevant if you paid in full! To pay your invoice please log in to your account and there should be a link associated with the invoice giving you the payment options.

In other news the Project Railway Honour Class 66 Patriot models have arrived from Dapol.

Project Railway Honour class 66 pre-production sample
Pre-production sample, not the final model!

The shipment was delayed in transit and unfortunately Gareth has been posted away from his normal base.  As a result Revolution Trains will process the despatch of the models. The models will be packaged with their certificates and posted out as quickly as possible, given the constraint that this work will have to fit around “proper” jobs. Please do not email us asking us when your model will arrive – the answer will be as soon as possible (and slows down the despatch process).

Alternatively if you wish to collect your model from us at DEMU’s Showcase exhibition on 3/4 June 2017 then please let us know – just drop us an email.

There are still a limited number of limited edition models available for purchase – you can buy them through our website here or if we have any left they will be available for sale from the Revolution Trains stand at DEMU’s Showcase exhibition in Burton.

Project Railway Honour: Patriot & York show

Revolution Trains have been delighted to support Project Railway Honour and we are pleased to report that Dapol have completed production of the models of 66418 Patriot. Below are a couple of photos of the completed production model.

If you have pre-ordered one of the models then we will send it out to you as soon as we receive the models after the Easter weekend, alternatively if you are coming along to York (and we have received the models before we leave!) then you will be able to collect your model at the show.

UPDATE: we had hoped to receive the models just prior to Easter but the shipment was delayed in transit and unfortunately Gareth has been posted away from his normal base.  As a result Revolution Trains will process the despatch of the models.  The models are now in the UK (3 May 2017) and we will post an update as soon as we are ready to start sending them out to people.  Please do not ask us to give you an update when you will receive your model – that will only slow down the despatch process! Alternatively you can collect your model at DEMU’s Showcase exhibition on 3/4 June 2017 at Burton.

Revolution and Project Railway Honour will be at the York Model Railway Show over the Easter weekend.  We will have news on our projects and hopefully the first sample of our 35T class B tank wagon.

You can see us on the mezzanine at Stand 97 – if you come to the show please come along and say hello.

Project Railway Honour

Revolution Trains is proud and pleased to be supporting Project Railway Honour, which was launched yesterday.

In a ceremony at Freightliner’s new locomotive depot at Basford, Crewe, 66418 – now carrying the new Genessee and Wyoming branded version of Freightliner’s PowerHaul livery – was named “Patriot.”

img_4555

Dapol will now produced a limited edition model of this locomotive and all proceeds from sales will go the ABF, The Soldier’s Charity.

img_4565

The naming was carried out by Adam Cunliffe, Freightliner’s UK managing director and Graham Wood, whose grandfather, Wilfred Wood VC, a former employee of London North Western Railways, was awarded the Victoria Cross on 28 November 1918 for conspicuous bravery and initiative on the Italian front against Austro-Hungarian forces in World War 1.

The Victoria Cross is Britain’s highest award for gallantry.  Mr Wood brought his grandfather’s with him.

The Mercian Regiment provided an Honour Guard and Army vehicles for the event.

The locomotive nameplate also carries the message “In Memory of Fallen Railway Employees” and it was noted that all railwaymen who fell in WW1 were volunteers, since working on the railways at the time was designated a “protected job” meaning that none faced conscription.

The project is the brainchild of Corporal Gareth Atkinson, of The Mercian Regiment.

After the naming ceremony 66418 was taken up to Crewe station to allow enthusiasts to take photographs.

Revolution Trains is delighted to be one of the supporters of  Project Railway Honour, providing design work, publicity materials and web services free of charge.

We will also be hosting Gareth and Project Railway Honour on our stand at the Warley National Model Railway Exhibition at the NEC later this month, when Gareth will be delighted to meet potential supporters and answer questions.

Revolution Supporting Project Railway Honour

image

Revolution is delighted to be supporting Project Railway Honour

This ambitious scheme will see Freightliner unveiling one of their Class 66 locomotives in a new “Genessee and Wyoming” version of the PowerHaul livery, and giving it the name “Patriot” to commemorate the centenary of WW1.

Dapol have agreed to issue 250 N-gauge models of this locomotive soon afterward, and proceeds from these models will go to the ABF – The Soldier’s Charity.

The project is the brainchild of Corporal Gareth Atkinson who is also planning similar events next year, to raise money for Royal Navy charities, and in 2018, the centenary of the end of WW1, for the Royal Air Force.

If you are interested in supporting this project please follow the link above.  Note that images of the new locomotive, its distinctive nameplate and other details of the prototype and the model will be added after the naming ceremony.
