Description
Rail Operations Group ordered ten Class 93 locomotives in 2023, with options on a further 20. The Class 93 is a tri-mode loco designed to operate on 25kV overhead power supply, with an inboard diesel engine, and heavy duty batteries. The Class 93 is able to run at speeds of up to 110mph and the diesel power unit (plus battery boost) is specified to be powerful enough for mainline running, not just ‘last mile’ operation.
Initially we are offering 4 numbers though we will add numbers/variants/liveries as they emerge in service:
- 93001 in ROG green with Armed Forces Convenant logo
- 93002 in ROG green (as delivered)
- 93008 in ROG green with Go Express branding
- 93009 in ROG green (used by DRS on test)
The model has the following features:
- high levels of detailing including photo-etched and separate parts where appropriate
- prototypical lighting arrangements plus cab desk lighting
- 21 pin DCC socket
- heavy metal chassis
- RP25-110 wheels with space for EM/P4 fitting
- DCC sound provision
- all models feature a Power Pack
- operating fans
- optional DCC-operated pantograph mechanism
- removable detailed buffer beams – factory-fitted at one end (though a spare NEM coupler will also be included for customers who wish to couple the loco at both ends)
- choice of prototype couplings – standard hook/shackle or Dellner/Cargoflex (as appropriate)
The Class 93 model is a complicated model with a lot of prototypical functionality. So we are offering three versions of each model to suit customer requirements:
- DC Silent – no pantograph motor or speaker (DCC ready)
- DCC Silent – pre-mapped ESU Lokpilot decoder, operating pantograph, no speaker
- DCC Sound – ESU Loksound sound decoder, speaker and operating pantograph
If you wish to upgrade for DCC sound in the future then you will need to add a plug and play speaker and sound decoder. Please note that the pantograph operating mechanism is only available factory-fitted in the DCC silent or DCC sound versions.
