Description
The IIA-B / HOA-B wagons were built in several batches from 2008 to 2024 by Greenbrier. The IIA-B / HOA-Bs are regularly mixed in with other types of aggregate wagons such as our HOA-A hoppers.
EWS ordered 34 wagons for use on Cemex trains from Peak Forest and Shap. These were delivered in Cemex blue and grey livery, however the Cemex branding was removed almost immediately. NACCO bought 40 for use on Mendip Rail trains from the Somerset quarries Tor Works (Foster Yeoman/Aggregate Industries) and Whatley (Hanson) with an additional 20 purchased for Mendip Rail use a year later by VTG.
In 2019 a further 35 wagons were added to the Mendip Rail fleet by VTG, but these were domestically coded HOA-B, with the UIC designation Fanpps, and in 2020 they were joined by 40 more HOA-Bs owned by wagon leasing company Touax outshopped in dark red. A further VTG order in 2024 for 203 HOA-Bs were delivered in dark blue with MRL branding. You can see more detail on the prototype wagons here.
Our tooling suite covers the prototypical variations of the real wagons: differences to the end plate and bodyside details; general position of operational parts; and brake wheel positions (body vs bogie mounted).
Our IIA-B / HOA-B models feature prototype detail variations along with our standard specifications of:
- Highly-detailed OO Gauge / 1:76.2 Scale models
- NEM standard coupler pockets with NEM narrow tension lock couplers at correct height
- Detailed TF25 low track force bogies with brake blocks in line with wheels (optional location for fine scale wheels)
- RP25.110 profile wheel-sets on axles 26mm over pinpoints
- Multiple versions are available for all liveries (some liveries have more versions than others due to the number of real wagons eg VTG / MRL blue – all packs feature different numbers).
Please note that you are preordering a model in development – in exchange for ordering in advance you receive a discounted price.
