Revolution strikes gold with Drax!

Revolution Trains was delighted to be invited to Drax Power Station near Selby to celebrate the power station’s 50th anniversary – Drax 50. A GBRf Class 66 (66301) and one of the IIA-D biomass hoppers had been turned out in gold celebratory liveries for the occasion.

L to R: Ben Ando; Mike Hale (both Revolution Trains); Mark Gibbens; Bruce Heppenstall (both Drax Group); Andrew Playford (GBRf)

Following the unloading of the biomass at Drax, the special train was pathed back to Port of Tyne via an unusual route over the iconic Settle & Carlisle line with time factored in for a stop on Ribblehead Viaduct.

Revolution was commissioned by Drax to produce models of the striking wagon and a limited number will go on sale early next week with a portion of sales going to Drax’s charity of choice – Martin House Hospice. Watch this space for more information (and some video of the train over the viaduct!).
